Textiles

As well as my consulting work, I create textile artworks for the home. Inspired by the remnants of cloth left over from my accessories label Marwood, I started to explore ways to re-use the cloth, beyond making it in to a garment. Having designed the cloth a few years ago, each remnant, large or small, was meaningful and special in its own right. Jacquard woven cloth goes through an intensive design process at the mill in Suffolk and is then intricately woven by their industrial jacquard machines resulting in luxury, long-lasting fabrics in a variety of textures and beautiful colour options.

With a life-long influence of textiles gifted to me from my Mum, I started to explore techniques and methods that could be both tactile and modern. Referencing the Japanese techniques of Sashiko stitching and Boro textiles and historic quilting methods, I started to embark on creating pieces for the wall that would preserve and hero each piece of cloth. A series started to emerge and the pieces will be sold on www.marwood.life from April 2023.

If you would like to learn more or commission a piece, please do get in touch.
